According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 21 Russian tankers, as well as four tugboats, two cargo ships and a dredger, were hit during a new attack in the Sea of Azov. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Kiev says the tankers are used to transport oil and petroleum products, helping to circumvent international sanctions and finance the Russian war effort. The remaining ships, according to Ukrainian authorities, serve the military supply chain and the operation of port infrastructure.
The commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madiar” Brovdy, said that in just six days the Ukrainian forces have hit a total of 76 Russian ships. At the same time, he reported that attacks were carried out against 53 military targets in occupied Crimea and southern occupied Ukrainian territories, including Russian fleet facilities and energy infrastructure.
