The strategic Toretsk fell into Russian hands, completing the occupation of almost all of Donetsk

Unconfirmed Russian and Ukrainian sources report that the large Ukrainian city of Toretsk in Donetsk has fallen to the Russian army after prolonged fighting. We would like to remind you that in the strategic Toretsk in northern Donetsk, fierce fighting has been taking place between Russians and Ukrainians for several months in a row. Kiev soldiers tried superhumanly to keep the city under their control for as long as possible.

However, Russian forces gradually pushed the Ukrainians out of the settlement, forcing entire Ukrainian units to retreat.

It seems that this process was successfully completed for Moscow, since Ukrainian soldiers are said to have been almost completely expelled from the territory of Toretsk.

Toretsk was of strategic importance to Kiev because it was a logistical hub for supplying nearby Ukrainian units. Without it, Ukrainian positions along the entire Donetsk region are expected to be weakened.

Russians Have Captured Almost All of Donetsk

Russian forces are just 7 kilometers from the western border of the Donetsk People’s Republic, which means they are very close to completely capturing the Ukrainian region.

2025 began with significant territorial gains for Moscow, especially in Donetsk. On January 6, Kurakhovo in southern Donetsk was captured, while as we informed you above yesterday, the Russian army is believed to have gained full control of the city of Toretsk in northern Donetsk.
