Ukraine’s foreign minister, in a statement following reports of a Russian strike in Poland, called for new air defense systems and modern fighter jets and stressed the need for a NATO summit and a collective response to Russia that would be tough.
Kouleba’s statement after the attack on Poland:
“Ukraine confirms its full solidarity with Poland and is ready to provide all necessary support. The collective response to Russian actions must be tough and principled. Among the immediate actions: a NATO summit with Ukraine to forge further joint actions to force Russia to reverse course on escalation by providing Ukraine with modern aircraft such as the F-15 and F-16, as well as air defense systems to intercept any Russian missiles. Today, protecting Ukraine’s skies means protecting NATO.”
