Ukraine said through its defense intelligence service that a special forces unit “successfully detected and destroyed” a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system on Sunday (14/9).
The service said that this important Russian asset – worth between 40 and 50 million dollars or 34 and 42 million euros – was hit in the occupied Zaporizhia region, in southeastern Ukraine.
The service added that the missile system in question – which can hit air, sea and ground targets – was located near Alexandrovka, in the Melitopol region.

September 15, the Kremlin announced that NATO is fighting against Russia by providing direct and indirect support to Ukraine.
“NATO is de facto involved in this war. NATO provides direct and indirect support to the Kiev regime. It can be said with absolute certainty that NATO is fighting against Russia,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
On Saturday, Ukrainian forces managed to repel the advance of Russian forces in the Sumy region, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced, after months of fierce fighting.
“Today, we can say that the Russian offensive operation in the Sumy region was completely repelled by our forces,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post after consultations with the leadership of the Ukrainian armed forces, including General Oleksandr Shirsky.
Hostilities in border areas continue, but Russian troops are no longer able to continue their offensive, Zelensky said.
It is recalled that in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin had declared that his troops should create a security zone of about 10 kilometers in the Ukrainian Sumy region in order to prevent a possible cross-border attack similar to last year’s Kursk.
However, according to Ukrainian military analysts, Russian armed forces still control an area of about 200 square kilometers in the Sumy region.
