The U.S. Armed Forces is working intensively on energy field technology that can protect any surrounding environments such as ships, planes, cities, islands, etc. from energetic and kinetic weapons attacks.
Essentially, energy field shields or force shields, provide the best zero-weight shielding that you develop and surround the wearer with an impenetrable shield, repelling all threats on it leaving the wearer untouched.

This idealized defense system could take the form of an energy field and could stop everything from intercontinental nuclear missiles to smaller drones.
On July 16, 2021, reference is made to the report of Air Force Research Laboratory-USAF «Directed Energy Futures 2060» (https://www.afrl.af.mil/Portals/90/Documents/RD/Directed Energy_Futures _2060_Final29 June21_with_clearance_number.pdf ) leaving suspicions that energy field shields can be put into practice in a relatively short time. Specifically, «…By 2060 a sufficiently large fleet or constellation of high-altitude DEW systems could provide a missile defense umbrella, as part of a layered defense system, if such concepts prove affordable and necessary. Future trends in range and focus of military power will be driven by new mission areas. »
Essentially, its main use for the USAF is to use this technology to repel any ballistic missiles against it. This report states that guided action could solve the extremely difficult problem of missile defense.
The promises made by this report are that this technology will appear close to 2060. But we know that the progress in this technology is great and can appear close to 2035.
