William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) enjoyed a remarkable popularity in the United States, particularly during the late 1800s through the early 20th century. The art of the French academic painter is reviewed in another light in the great-exhibition tribute at The San Diego Museum of Art. The exhibition brings together over 40 works from various American museums, highlighting the popularity of his art in middle urban class and upper urban class America from 1870 to 1910.

The Wallace Collection presents Forgotten Masters: Indian Painting for the East India Company, guest curated by renowned writer and historian William Dalrymple. This is the first UK exhibition of works by Indian master painters commissioned by East India Company officials in the late 18th and 19th centuries. Reflecting both the beauty of the natural world and the social reality of the time, these dazzling and often surprising art works offer a rare glimpse of the cultural fusion between British and Indian artistic styles during this period.
